KJV Sword Bible

A few months ago a friend shared a link to the KJV Sword Bible – https://www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-sword-bible-large-print/

The website describes the Sword Bible as:

The KJV Sword Bible offers a Bible-reading experience made even more enjoyable and enriching with an updated page design for increased readability, difficult terms underlined and defined at the ends of verses, the words of both God and Jesus in red, and other study resources.

It highlights these features:

  • Full-color maps
  • Large-print, 12-point type size
  • Updated page design for increased readability
  • Difficult terms underlined and defined at the ends of verses
  • Words of God highlighted in red in the Old Testament
  • Words of Jesus highlighted in red in the New Testament
  • Hebrew names of God explained
  • “Essential Themes String-Reference Bible Study” included in footnotes. With this study, you can follow along with the verse listings for many important biblical themes as they appear throughout Scripture. The topics and subtopics include over ninety different themes, providing much material for Bible study and devotional use.
  • “Read Through the Bible in One Year” plan

It is offered with a variety of cover styles and index and non-index options.

It is not a study Bible with introductions to books of the Bible and lots of commentaries on difficult passages.

It does have definitions for difficult and rare words and a helpful system of cross references.

I’m not sure that I like the red letter feature in the Old Testament. However, in the introduction it does make clear that while they have taken every effort to only high light the words of God there are some passages where there is debate.

It is not a premium Bible with high quality paper. The only downside is that there is some bleed through, particularly from the red letter pages.

I like that the definitions are inline with the verse and not pushed to the bottom of the page.

Would I Recommend It?

Absolutely. Especially for young believers, children, or anyone who struggles with some of the unfamiliar language of the KJV.

As I said, it doesn’t have great quality paper, but the affordable price reflects that.
