Building Opportunity

As many of you know the church I currently pastor was started 7 years ago by Pastor Tom Fittis. Since its beginnings it has met on a second floor above some shops. We have made repeated attempts to purchase land or buildings or to rent something on the ground floor but so far we have … Read more

Come Ye Apart and Rest

{password}With many plans, ideas, requirements, deadlines, ambitions and goals comes the reluctance to take a step back and rest for a while. For a long while I could not seem to relax and just spend time with the family. I have found the key is in leaving the house. Some how even if I do … Read more

Outreach

On Friday evening I led a group of 6 teens and 3 adults in an attempt to witness to teens in the area. We walked all over Woodford and Christine (two housing areas near us). Any teens we saw we approached spoke to about the Gospel and meetings at the church. Later in the evening we … Read more

Youth Outreach – ALIVE

God willing this evening we will begin a fresh drive for Teen Evangelism. Our children's meetings seem to go well and though we have room for growth and improvement we have a good base from which to work. Our teen's meetings have not gone so well. Along the path the teen's ministry has lost its … Read more

Fellowship, Visitors and Doctors

Over the past few months we have had little opportunity to get together with friends and enjoy the company of other believers. Last night we had two of the young couples we know back to our home after church. One couple, Gareth and Karen, attend our church and have done so for several years. They … Read more

Carol Service 2006

On Sunday 17th December we held our annual Carol Service. We had several visitors brought by members of the church. We have also had some feedback from the 1500 Beacons we distributed in the weeks prior to the service. Though some regulars did not turn up numbers were good. Those who made the effort to be in … Read more

More Than A Christmas Story

This is a Christmas message I prepared a few years ago and published in Faith’s recent "Beacon" publication. By the grace of God we distributed 1500 in our community.

Without fail at this time of year people dust off their old decorations and begin transforming their homes into demonstrations of the festive spirit. Christmas trees go up, shiny ornaments hang from the ceilings, flashing lights and animated models appear outside people’s homes.

The shops put on the same music they have been playing for the past 20 years; the quantity of food and drink sold more than doubles. Cards are sent in their millions to the person next door and to friends on the other side of the world. The religious perhaps get out a nativity scene to add to their decorated homes and a few even make their annual appearance at some church. However, Christ is largely neglected. While there is nothing inherently wrong in enjoying the decorations, the gifts and all the trappings of the festive spirit there is something drastically wrong when the whole meaning behind Christmas gets forgotten and even rejected.
