He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. Matthew 9:24-26
In Matthew 9 we find one great miracle after another. First we find the man sick of the palsy and he is physically healed. Even greater than that is that Christ grants him spiritual forgiveness. Healing the spirit takes more than healing the body. Then we find the miracle of God’s calling on Matthew’s life. For a man to forsake himself, take up the cross and follow Christ it requires a miracle in the life of the individual. Next, Christ is requested to heal a child and on the way we find the faith of a woman who knew that just to touch the hem of Christ’s garment would be enough to heal her. Finally, Christ arrives at the home of the young child who is close to death.
As Christ approached the home doubtless His disciples thought he was too late. The funeral music had begun and the mourning was in full flow. Christ tells them that the young girl was not dead, but slept. They laughed. Christ put them out and then healed her! He took her by the hand and the girl got up!
As believers we will either be in the presence of Christ observing or experiencing a miracle, or we will be in the crowd that gets thrown out so God can do a work.
Consider today whether your (my) lack of faith, bickering, gossiping, worrying or any other sin is hindering from God working in our lives. Does God need to throw us out of the room so He can get on with His business of glorifying Himself in this world by saving souls? Are you in the way?
We need to get up and serve God, or God will put us out of the room while He works wonders. Make your choice.
